About Afghan rugs
Navajo Rugs
Today, merchants have been trying to get weavers to use golden wool supplied by them, so as to save the cost of chemical treatment.
So far, however, very few have been woven, as old traditions die hard and some weavers are very superstitious and believe a change of colour will bring bad luck.
The quality of Afghans, as with all Orientals varies quite considerably, in fact, from one extreme to the other.
I have seen rugs so fine and so stiff, that it has been impossible to fold them, they had to be rolled or laid flat.
